Lively indoor / outdoor street market in the heart of Ubud. Dozens of local stall owners line the streets selling handmade crafts and accessories as well as the mandatory array of Bintang singlets. 

Items for sale include clothing for all ages, homewares like bamboo placemats, silver and beaded jewelry, sarongs, handbags, fans, sunglasses, paintings, musical instruments like xylophones, and many, many more.

Backstory

Ubud Art Market began as a local market place for villagers to meet and sell handicrafts. It now serves tourists, selling some handicrafts and paintings in addition to mass produced clothing and knock-off designer wear.

Etiquette

Do:
  • Barter firmly but be respectful to store owners.
  • Pay a tip of Rp Rp1,Rp0-Rp2,Rp0 (USD$0.06 - $0.13) to any local or store owner you photograph. 
  • Walk away from stores you believe are too expensive. 
Don't:
  • Be rude or aggressive to store owners while bartering.
  • Be pressured into buying something you don’t want by persistent store owners.
  • Wander into private homes behind the stores.
