Guide to the Most Instagramable UK Getaways

Guest article by

We are not certain for sure when and where we can go abroad for a holiday right now, which is why UK getaways are becoming very popular.

Believe it or not, the UK is actually home to several Instagrammable sites! From the awe-inspiring vistas of the Isle of Skye to the dramatic mountain peaks of Snowdon and the beautiful streets of London, these places are proof that you don't need to travel far for that envy-inducing Instagram post.

1. Isle of Skye, Scotland

Boasting dramatic scenery that consists of intensely rugged landscapes and breath-taking vistas, there's no shortage of incredible views to capture the real beauty of the Isle of Skye. For a 360-degree view of the island, conquer the Old Man of Storr. But if you find the Storr daunting to climb, head to Loch Fada. The serene scenes in this gorgeous lake are sure to capture the attention of your Instagram friends!

The Kilt Rock is another place in the Isle of Skye that boasts the most dramatic landscape views. Overlooking Mealt Falls, this viewpoint consists of a 300-feet weathered basalt column that resembles the pleats of a kilt, thus the name. If you only need to visit one place in the Isle of Skye, make it The Quiraing. This place has probably the most dramatic landscape views that you can find on the island.

If you are looking for places to stay with stunning views, check out Independent Cottages selection of Scottish cottages. Hiking enthusiasts are particularly drawn to its 4-mile hiking trail that will take you across the steep slopes and will reward you with a sweeping view of the island.

One day is not enough to capture the many Instagrammable sights in the Isle of Skye. So, spend a few days and stay in a beautiful Scottish cottage.

2. Mount Snowdon, Wales

Snowdon is the highest and the most domineering peak of Snowdonia. At a range of 1,085 meters, it towers the other mountain ranges. There are numerous views in Snowdon that can make for a dream-worthy Instagram post.

The first view that greets you if you summit at dawn is the dramatic sunrise views over at Llynnau Mymbyr. But this place isn't only about the view. This is where the adventure begins. For climbers heading towards Pen-y-Pass when climbing Snowdon, this is the first time that they will catch a glimpse of the mountain, and then the excitement begins.

As you get to the top of Snowdon, be ready with your camera and take as many photos as you can. From here, you'll witness the most breathtaking views of Snowdonia, especially at the Cwm Dyli, where the lakes of Glaslyn and Llydaw take center stage. You will also enjoy uninterrupted views of the ridges and summits that make up the iconic Snowdon Horseshoe.

3. City of London

Whether you live in London, or you're simply just visiting, there are several picturesque locations all over the city that you can boast about on Instagram. From the beautiful streets lined with pastel-colored buildings, to street arts, and flower markets, London is certainly a haven for Instagrammers.

Head to The Lancaster Road for that envy-inducing Instagram post. This colorful street within Notting Hill boasts colorful houses, from bright green hues to pops of blues and pinks.

Another place to visit for a colorful Instagram feed is the Columbia Road Flower Market. Every Sunday, this street is lined with stalls selling colorful flowers and foliage. And if you prefer something fun and quirky to post, check out the Shoreditch Street Art. Here, you will find walls and doors covered in colorful graffiti and abstract paintings of all sorts.

You can't go past the sensory celebration that is the West End. From the all-encompassing lighting to emotionally-charged music to world-class live singing and dancing - this is a must-see experience for any traveler in London.

If you spend some time exploring London, you could come across several interesting sights that deserve a spot in your Instagram feed. So, get the invaluable London Pass, and visit as many sights as you can. This pass will give you access to more than 90 incredible attractions in the city at a discounted rate.

4. Giants Causeway, Northern Ireland

The Giant's Causeway is Northern Ireland's most popular attraction, and that is for a good reason. This dramatic site features more than 40,000 massive black columns that magnificently juts out of the sea at the foot of basalt cliffs, right at the edge of the Antrim plateau. This natural wonder has inspired photographers from the world over. If you want to impress your Instagram friends and entice more followers, then the Giant's Causeway should be on your bucket list.

There are various ways to get to the Giant's Causeway. You can either rent a car and drive your way to the site, catch the train, or join a guided tour. When you arrive, you'll be greeted with an incredible sight. The most characteristic feature of the Giant's Causeway is the exposure of some regularly shaped polygonal columns of basalt rocks arranged in perfect horizontal sections. So, make sure you come with your phone fully charged since you'll be spending the entire day taking as many photos as you can.

5. Oxford, England

Home to one of the most popular universities in the world, Oxford is a city steeped in history with a vibrant culture. Behind the magnificent architecture of the honey-colored universities lies a beautiful city that has plenty of picturesque sites for Instagrammers to marvel at.

To make the most of your Oxford visit, take a cruise down the river. This is a great way to get a glimpse of the most Instagram-worthy spots in the city. After spending some time in the water, head to the streets and take photos of Oxford's most iconic buildings. Some of the buildings that deserve to be highlighted in your feed are the Christ Church College, Radcliffe Camera, Sheldonian Theatre, and Divinity School.

After spending some time in the city, head to the countryside. Here, you can go camping by the Oxford canal, which is one of the most picturesque spots in all of Oxfordshire. And before leaving Oxford, make sure you visit the Oxford Botanic Garden. This 17th-century stone-walled garden is not only scenic, but it also exudes a calm and serene atmosphere, a perfect place to relax and get away from it all!
