When packing your bags for your trip make sure you include any medications or health regimens you normally complete day to day.

Eat Healthy Foods

A balanced diet not only helps you maintain health but it can also make you feel better and more energized. While traveling it can be easy to derail your diet due to the many different foods and treats you may find. However, it's important you continue consistency and only indulge in a treat in moderation.

If you plan to have a sweet treat daily while traveling, try opting for a smaller size or a healthier alternative that is just as good. For example, if you're looking to treat yourself to ice cream, try getting a smaller size or choosing a healthier alternative such as frozen yogurt.

Stay Hydrated

Adequate hydration is crucial for your body to function optimally. Lacking on water intake when traveling can not only lead you to a headache or fogginess, you may end up being more fatigued causing you to not fully enjoy yourself as you would if you were drinking plenty of water.

It is recommended you drink approximately half of your body weight in ounces per day to maintain adequate hydration. Pack a water bottle with you and take it along during your daily excursions to ensure you are getting enough water each day.

Get Exercise

Depending on what your current exercise regimen is will determine what it should be while away. If you are an avid exerciser, try setting aside a half-hour or hour throughout your days to complete your typical exercise routine. If you normally lack in the exercise department at home, it's not suggested you begin while on vacation. A simple way to get enough exercise while traveling is by walking as often as you can.

A brisk walk for a half-hour or more can be a sufficient amount of exercise while traveling.

Sleep Well

A lack of sleep can lead to numerous physical and mental problems. This is why it's important that you are getting a good night's sleep while away.

Bringing a sound machine or earplugs is suggested when traveling as you never know what type of noises you may be exposed to where you will be staying.

Don't Overcomplicate It

Staying healthy while traveling can be simple when you stick to the basics. Focusing on these five tips will help prevent illness while away and will assist you in maintaining your health goals.
