Insider Tips For Jimbaran Beach
- Restaurants along the beach are grouped into 2 regions: north and south. The northern group is larger and more spread out. Several large resorts, including InterContinental Bali Resort, take up much of the middle. Then a smaller cluster of beachfront restaurants are grouped at the southern end of the beach.
- Most restaurants only sell seafood but if you ask for an alternative meal, like chicken and rice or fried noodles, the waiter will order it from a nearby restaurant and bring it to your table. You may have to wait a little longer than diners who order fish.
- Several beachfront restaurants offer live entertainment like Balinese dancers and Mariachi bands. Make sure to leave a tip if they play a song you requested or pose for a photo.
- Grilled corn carts often traverse the beachfront offering a cheap snack – typically priced around 10,000 for tourists.
- Visit between April and November for the most tranquil weather. From early December to late March, a lot of seaweed and trash tends to wash up on the beach due to seasonal currents.

Backstory
Jimbaran started as a humble fishing village with ancient origins. The name “Jimbaran” comes from the local Balinese word “jimbar” meaning “broad”, referring to the large size of the original village. In the late 20th century Jimbaran started to gain popularity for its beautiful beach and fresh seafood.
Jimbaran’s white beach sands span in a gentle arc to a limestone cliff face at its southern border known as Bukit (hill). This limestone cliff rises up to 70 meters in places offering uninterrupted ocean views and attracting luxury resorts to the area.
