A thriving tropical garden brimming with 120 different species of alluring butterflies. Wander around the garden while over 5,000 butterflies of blue, orange, green, and onyx hues dance among sun-kissed flowers or devour fruit platters scattered throughout the netted enclosure.
Most of KL Butterfly Park's inhabitants are rare or endangered species transported from Malaysia's remaining jungle habitats for their protection and preservation. Just outside the butterfly enclosure is a small museum, with information on butterfly species and large preserved insects including the rhinoceros beetle, praying mantis, and butterflies from all around the world.

Backstory
Located on around 92 hectares near the center of Kuala Lumpur's main business district, the Lake Gardens was KL's first recreational park. In the 1800s, the park became the landscaped residence of the colonial Governor, the building of which is now a museum called Carcosa Seri Negara.
Over the years, the area has been redesigned to include spaces for Malaysia's botanical riches, including orchid displays, animal sanctuaries, memorials, a planetarium, and Kuala Lumpur's famous bird and butterfly parks.
The Butterfly Park was designed primarily to preserve Malaysia's extensive butterfly population threatened by deforestation and urbanization. It sought to recreate the natural tropical jungle in which Malaysia's butterflies thrive.
