Tech nerds and shopping malls don't often go hand in hand, but Kuala Lumpur's Plaza Low Yat is an exception to the rule. In this 7-storey mall, fashion boutiques and homewares stores are replaced with laptops, mobile phones, and the latest electronic gadgets and toys.
Other items for sale include cameras, drones, gaming equipment, tablets, video production gear, and computer accessories. Mainstream and international brands alike abound with plenty of bargains to be found for savvy shoppers who know what they're looking for and have a knack for bargaining.

Backstory
Tan Sri Low Yat was a Malay visionary and entrepreneur who, after WWII, foresaw Malaysia's post-colonial future and invested heavily. His business ventures spanned across the construction, property, and tourism industries. Following his death, his businesses, including Plaza Low Yat were left in the hands of his children and grandchildren.
Since its opening as a specialled IT mall in 1999, Plaza Low Yat has gained global recognition as the 'physical' retail outlet for all types of technology under one roof. In 2009, the plaza gained the title of Malaysia's largest IT lifestyle center. The mall has since broadened its offerings with the inclusion of dining options, a beauty & wellness center, and fashion stores, while keeping a strong focus on technology.
