Tanjung Rhu Beach

Tucked away at Langkawi's northeastern tip, Tanjung Rhu Beach is a secluded bay surrounded by a leafy jungle and towering mountains. It's no wonder why some of the island's most prestigious luxury resorts chose Tanjung Rhu. The beach itself welcomes visitors with a wide stretch of fine white sand and crystal-clear yet warm water ideal for swimming and snorkeling.

Facing north, Tanjung Rhu provides a glimpse of Thailand on clear, sunny days. Unlike other popular beaches in Langkawi, Tanjung Rhu doesn't offer jet-ski hire and water sports. This is a beach for hardcore relaxers content to spend a day sunbathing, swimming, and sipping cocktails at the beachfront bar.

Backstory

Tanjung Rhu is named after the tall Casuarina trees that line Langkawi's northern coastline. The name roughly translates as "cape of Casuarina trees" as "Tanjung" is the Malay word for "cape" while "Rhu" means "Casuarina tree".

Tanjung Rhu's remote location attracted luxury resorts, The Four Seasons and Tanjung Rhu Resort to offer their guests a touch of privacy mixed with exquisite ocean views. The area has since been considered upmarket compared to the more affordable Pantai Cenang.
