Soar up to the tip of Langkawi's second tallest mountain, Gunung Machinchang on Langkawi SkyCab, the world's steepest cable car. The 15-minute ride in a standard or glass-bottom gondola will have you soaring above the Langkawi's lush rainforest to see nearby waterfalls, beaches, rock formations, and wildlife from a new perspective.
The SkyCab connects to 3 stations, starting at the base station within Langkawi Oriental Village. Next stop is the middle station to access an observation platform with views over the eastern mountains, then take the cable car up even higher to the top station, located 708m above sea level. From here, you can access 2 viewing platforms perched upon Gunung Machinchang's peak with views stretching over Langkawi and the archipelago of islands in the Andaman Sea.
The top station is also the location to purchase tickets to engineering marvel, Langkawi Sky Bridge, a curved pedestrian bridge suspended over the jungle.

Insider Tips For Langkawi SkyCab
- The SkyCab provides views over Machinchang Cambrian Geoforest Park, one of 3 main sections within Langkawi's UNESCO Global Geopark. With unique rock formations, flora, and fauna, the area sheds insight into the formation of the earth up to 500 million years ago.
- To reach the SkyCab ticket desk, visitors must walk through the Oriental Village which has many restaurants, food stalls, and duty-free stores, as well as clothing, jewelry, and souvenir shops.
- Some ticket queues take cash only. Make sure you are waiting at a counter accepting card payments before lining up if paying by debit or credit card.
- Standard tickets include return journey in a normal gondola shared with up to 5 other people, entry to the middle station and upper station observation decks, and entry to the 3D Art Museum (located in the Oriental Village). Optional extras include express lane for ticket purchase; glass bottom, panorama, private, and VIP gondolas; and additional experiences like the Sky Bridge, and Sky Dome (purchased separately).
- The ticket desk has a printed calendar of cruise ships visiting Langkawi. Visit on a day with no cruise ships to avoid crowds. Also avoid public holidays when many locals visit.
- Check the weather forecast before visiting to avoid getting caught in the rain or having your view over the island restricted by rainclouds. Refunds are not given due to inclement weather.
- If short on time, skip getting off at the middle station as there may be a long wait for another gondola to the top station.
- Attractions available at the top station include a souvenir store (SkyBoutique), bistro (SkyBistro), love lock engraving, a postbox to purchase and send postcards (SkyPos), and the Langkawi Sky Bridge… yes, everything starts with the word "sky".
