Modern and stylish by hawkers' market standards, Northam Beach Café is the perfect spot to indulge on Asian street cuisine as you watch the sun softly set behind rows of fishing boats. Over 40 food stalls and a central drink vendor share dozens of numbered tables. Diners give their table number when ordering meals and watch in delight as a bargain-priced feast is delivered to their table.
Available meals include local seafood like grilled swordfish and oyster omelets, as well as satay sticks, deep-fried tofu, pizza, pies, chicken or lamb shawarma, and noodles of every variety. Early diners are more likely to score an ocean-facing table while those arriving later can be serenaded by local music artists.

Backstory
Northam Beach Café is located on the north end of central Georgetown, on Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah, just off Gurney Drive. Before Malaysian independence, Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah was named Northam Road, which is how the hawkers market received its name. Buildings along Northam Road were once occupied by Penang's most wealthy residents. The district of Gurney is still considered to be fairly up-market today.
