Insider Tips For Tanjung Rhu Resort
- Limited vegan and vegetarian options are available at in-house restaurants. Dine at the hotel for breakfast and lunch, but vegans should consider having dinner at neighboring resort, The Four Seasons where specialized plant-based options are available.
- The 60m swimming pool may look slightly green, but only because it is freshwater and tiled in green instead of the common blue.
- Some wings within the resort are currently closed. Don't be surprised if you see windows boarded up, it's been that way since new management took over in 2017.
- The hotel operates a flag system for beach safety. It's not advisable to swim in the sea if the flags are purple or red. If you do swim, stay in between the flags.
- All hotel rooms have bathtubs. Guests can buy bath sets including bath salts, exfoliating soap, and lavender body wash from Mandara Spa for RM30 (USD$6.75).
- The free guest parking lot is located about 200m from the lobby. Guests can request a complimentary buggy service to and from the carpark, or choose valet parking for RM30 (USD$6.75) per day.
COVID-19 Response
- Social distancing measures and touch-free sanitisation stations are available around the resort complex. One pool and all but one restaurant has been temporarily closed (Reading Room Café).
- Like many hotels in Langkawi, Tangjung Rhu Resort has struggled due to national and international travel restrictions in 2020. With fewer staff, a multitasking approach has resulted in lowering the restaurant's typically high standard in service.
